Our Story
Graham and Matthew moved into the Chapel in 2016, after many visits to the area and a hunger to leave the the bright lights of London and retreat deeper in to rural life and to become part of its community.
Graham spent his childhood visiting his Aunt Daisy in rural Wales, and Matthew grew up in deep country side of North Devon, on the Exmoor Boarders. Both having fond memories of climbing trees and swimming in rivers.
After falling in love with the Chapel, and the surrounding communities of Glasbury and Hay, they put an offer on the property and the rest, as they say, is History! As the new custodians of the Chapel they have found that it has become a sanctuary and a magical place, for themselves and their dogs, and anyone who passed through the doors, much like the many who crossed the threshold over the past century, during its time as a Chapel.
Graham, a Yoga Teacher and Thai Yoga Massage Therapist with a background in deaf blind communication, and Matthew, an Artist and Creative Producer, have combined their skills and passions to create a space that is creative and full of magic.
Over the years the Chapel has evolved, starting as a traditional
Bed & Breakfast and a space for pop up dinners and artists exhibitions. Since 2021 The Chapel is now bookable for accommodation for families and friends and as a place for people to visit on a programme of yoga and open water swimming retreats.

Graham and Matthew return to the Chapel during off peak times as the Chapel is their home and the heartbeat of the local community.
